Thanksgiving 2014

I believe that everyday should be a day of Thanks...but I am extra thankful that as a nation we have a holiday of Thanks. This year was one of my more unique Thanksgiving holidays. This year found me in the west, Calgary to be exact. I came here on Sept. 16th to attend the birth of my 9th grand child....Sophia May. That glorious event occurred on Oct.2nd....just 11 days before a planned Thanksgiving gathering  to be held in Saskatchewan with the Nelsons....YES before she was even two weeks old Miss Sophia went on her first family road trip!!

We left on Saturday, Oct.11th. Bill had arrived the night before and rented a van for the event. Grandma Connie
(Jeremy's Mom) had arrived the Monday before. It was a long journey but baby Sophia was a charm. We'd stop to stretch, feed her, and then be on our way. We arrived at Kathy's in the early evening and there was lots of excitement in the air. This was the first time that Sophia would meet some of her many many cousins and they fell in love with her. Saturday was welcome day, Sunday was church, some nice walks, and a swim at the pool where the 'grands' were staying. Monday was prep. the feast day...and Kathy and Jeff outdid themselves......what a feast.....amazing turkey, all the trimmings, Jeff's amazing homemade rolls, lovely name cards made by Jessica, great dinner conversation, and oh yes...DESSERT...all five choices....white chocolate lime pie, traditional blueberry cheesecake, lemon meringue, apple and of course pumpkin pie.....what a feast !!!! We finished the day with games and just some great hanging out. Laura took some fabulous family photos to remember the great Thanksgiving gathering that we had. Only thing missing was the rest of the family !!! Missed you Karen, Michael and families.
Tuesday we returned to Calgary and Miss Sophia once again charmed us with her great travelling manners!!!
